As part of its 400 megawatts solar energy generation plan in Iowa, Alliant Energy announced its plans for its solar and battery facility.

“This is the largest solar project in Iowa’s history, and one that will create up to: $260M in output, $98M in earnings, K+ construction jobs. Yet another great example of how #Iowa continues leading the way with renewable energy production!” Sen. Joni Ernet tweeted Nov 2.

Alliant Energy filed papers with the Iowa Utilities Board with a plan for 200 megawatts of solar energy as well as 75 megawatts of battery storage at the Duane Arnold Power Plant, according to a release from the company. Once the plants are operational, Alliant Energy will be the owner and will operate both projects.

The solar installation is being developed by NextEra Energy, a Florida-based company, Radio Iowa reported.

This would become the largest solar power in the state of Iowa.
